Customer Reviews

We bought a Scooba for our moderate size kitchen just over 18 months ago. It got used once a week and did a fantastic job - cleaning far better than you ever could do manually.
Don't think this device will make floor cleaning effort free. You do need to spend some time cleaning it thoroughly after every use - there are filters, brushes, pipes and tanks that all need cleaning every time.
Just recently our Scooba has started doing an erratic 'dance' and coming to a comlete halt. The error codes show the fault to be an encoder - not a wear and tear part, but something that should last the life of the robot. Clearly these parts would only fail if as a result of poor quality in the first place.
Bearing in mind that this is a circa £400 product, you would expect far better life expectancy. Several calls to iRobot customer service have made it clear that we can either pay nearly £150 for a fixed price repair or buy a new one! They are not interested in resolving the issue.
As much as we love the product, we will not be thowing any more money in iRobots direction.

I have owned Scoobas brother Roomba since 2007 and I always intended to buy Scooba when he came to the UK but I was put off because iRobot don't recommend using him on laminate floors. After reading several reviews online I found a few people were actually using him on laminate and didn't have any problems so, I decided to try for myself and sure enough my floors so far are fine although I do make sure there is plenty of ventilation so the floors dry quickly. I find him very easy to use and I can't understand the problems a couple of people seem to have cleaning him. iRobot have a video demonstration on their website showing how easy it is, simply slip out his vacuum port which is a small length of rubber tubing, his filter and his brush and run these under the water tap then swish some clean water through his water tank and the jobs done literally in 5 mins, if even that. Scooba is capable of vacuuming small particles of dirt but his use primarily is to wash floors so I vacuum the floor first (or should I say Roomba does) just as I would before using a mop, perhaps the lack of doing this is why some people find him very messy to clean and also encounter blockages. I find he cleans both my laminate and tiled floors very well and leaves my floors about as wet as a mop does. I haven't found any dirty lines caused by the wheels as one other review mentions, and also iRobot tell you if Scooba is slipping to use less cleaning fluid. I don't find him particularly noisey either in fact he's quieter than my Roomba 400 series. Personally, when I needed to have Roomba repaired I didn't have the slightest problem, neither did my sister, so this is something that doesn't give me any cause for concern with Scooba. He's a brilliant wee robot and I know he'll be as invaluable to me as Roomba has been.
